Women’s and men’s cross country took on the challenge at the Lancer Pink Invitational last Saturday as they competed against five DI schools.
First-year Damani Veney-Epps placed 34th overall in the men’s 8k race, leading the Panthers to a fourth-place ranking at the meet. First-years Guillermo Basurto, Seth Truett, Carlos Mendez, and Ethan Fitsgerald all followed in a direct row, taking the five scoring positions for the team, totaling 120 points scored for the men’s team.
Six members of the women’s team competed as well.
First-year Carly Carwile led the Panthers with a 28th place and 22:20-minute 5k. First-years Izzy Weigel, Sara Hudgins, Mi’Yah Young, and Chloe Smith followed behind.
Cross country will be on the road again on Oct. 3 at the Spartan Classic.
