Cross Country Competes Again

Women’s and men’s cross country took no break over fall break, competing in Greensboro at the Spartan Invitational on Fri. Oct. 3.

The men’s team finished seventh overall, and the women’s team scored ninth.

Leading the team for the men, first-year Damani Veney-Epps placed 28th with a time of 28:08 in the 8k race. First year Guillermo Basurto followed in 36th, less than a minute behind, proceeded by first years Seth Truett and Carlos Menendez, and juniors Josh Mills and Peter Barnett.

For the women, first year Carly Carwile took 31st out of 99 runners with a 5k time of 20:43. First years Sara Hudgins and Isabel Weigel crossed the finish line one minute later, in addition to first years Mi’Yah Young and Chloe Smith.

The Panthers will be back in action on today at the Royals Cross County Challenge in Charlotte, North Carolina.
