The Division of Nursing is helping put together a REVIVE! training session to help prevent opioid overdoses.

Participants will learn about the dangers and risks of opioids, but most importantly, how to handle an emergency situation using Naloxone.

After the training, attendees will be given a free kit with necessary materials to administer Naloxone, as well as a gift card to use at Panther Grounds.

This session will equip community members with information that could save the life of a friend or loved one.

“Anyone may be trained easily on this lifesaving intervention. Overdoses are not always intentional or a result of addiction. The life saved could be from an accidental overdose by your grandmother or child,” John Philips, Clinical Nursing Instructor, explained.

REVIVE! is a Virginia program to educate and equip community members concerning opioids and the risks associated with them. The Virginia Department of Health and Piedmont Community Services are also helping with the event, with the goal of garnering 75 new attendees on campus and throughout the local community.

The event will be held Feb. 22 in the lower part of Vaughan chapel (bell tower entrance). Sign up here to attend one of three sessions: 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., or 1 p.m.
