The Panthers began their cross country season as they dashed across the finish line at the Lancer Open last Saturday.
The eight-person team faced a series of non-conference teams on the Lancer’s home turf.
Junior Josh Mills was the first on the team to finish the eight-kilometer race, placing 32nd out of 63 runners.
Junior Kayden Ryder followed minutes after, taking spot #40 in the race, alongside freshman Jaiden Childress taking 50th.
However, the Panthers fell short of a win, placing last in the open meet.
The team remains optimistic as they are set to take on Pfeiffer on Sat. Sept. 14.
