This fall, the college has updated its Covid policy.

From the Office of Student Live and Engagement:

Like the flu and other common viruses and illnesses, COVID-19 is now one illness among many that staff and students manage on a regular basis. We continue to follow CDC and VDH recommendations and provide our processes for fall semester 2022 below.  Please consider the health and well-being of your fellow Panthers as well as yourself as we move into the new semester.

  • Ferrum College strongly encourages COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters. Find one at vaccines.gov.

  • Masking is always welcome anywhere at Ferrum College.

  • Please do not attend work or gatherings if you are sick. Test if you suspect COVID-19.

  • If you test positive, please do the following:

    • Contact the Office of Student Life at (540)-365-4461 to report the positive test results.  You will receive guidance regarding your next steps.

    • We strongly encourage students who receive a positive test result to return home for the isolation period, accessing coursework remotely during this time.

  • We no longer offer isolation/quarantine housing, and we will not move COVID-19 positive students from their rooms. It is important that all residential students work with their families and their roommate(s) to develop a plan should they or their roommate become infected with COVID-19.

In addition, we encourage students to educate themselves on Monkeypox as there are now confirmed cases in Southwest Virginia. Monkeypox is a contagious rash illness spread by close contact with an infected person. See the attached flyer for more information.

We are looking forward to a great semester.  Please reach out with any questions!
