Women’s and men’s indoor track and field opened their season at the Liberty Kickoff Classic on Dec. 6.
Though the college may have been on winter break, the teams were not, with four women and 13 men competing.
Their hard work paid off on meet day.
Leading the women’s team in the 60-meter-dash, senior Jordan Booker took 58th place at the meet with a time of 00.08.88, followed by sophomores Emma Kelley and Zoie Wagner in the same event.
Kelley and Wagner competed in the 200-meter-dash as well, with the addition of senior Ashtyn Bishop.
Bishop was the only to run the 400-meter-dash, in which she finished with a time of 1:15:48.
The men’s team had five competitors in the 60-meter-dash and six in the 200-meter-dash. Senior DaMauri McPherson and first year Jordan Smith led the way.
Junior Kayden Ryder took the spotlight for the highest ranking on the team, taking 13th in the 1000-meter-dash with a time of 2:47:53.
Junior Josh Mills and senior Greyson Crouch also competed in midstance events at the meet.
For the field events, first year Jaiden Childress took 16th in the men’s high jump, sophomore Kyle Holcomb took 14th in the men’s shot put, and junior Jaylon Hillman took 16th in the men’s shot put.
