Spectators filed into the stands during a frigid January night as the Panthers prepped to take on Greensboro in a Women’s Basketball game that ended with a 70-53 win for the Lady Panthers.

Aisha Martin, grad student, led the Panthers scoring brigade with 15 points. Meanwhile on defense, Maslyn Mosbacher, first year, garnered 6 steals on the night.

The first quarter saw the Panthers put up 19 points compared to Greensboro’s 15. They continued to outscore the Pride in the second and third periods with 15-3 and 22-16 performances, respectively. The fourth quarter saw the Pride claim 19 points, edging out the Panthers’ 14 points for the period.

While the Panthers only had one player break double digits for scoring in the game, both Asya Williams, senior, and Kleiauna Riddick, first year, both barely missed the mark with 9 points for each of them.

Mosbacher brought in 7 points alongside her defensive steals, as well as Zy’breayziah Alexander, sophomore; Allyson Cassell, junior; and Tabitha Miller, first year; sinking 7 points during the game.

Rounding out the full 70, Erin Harden, junior, had three points on the night while three more Panthers, Taryn Blankenship, junior; Kamryn Snyder, first year; and Anna Newman, sophomore; each scored two points against the Pride, with Newman sealing the score at 70 points.

The ladies not only outscored the Pride but also outperformed them in the rebound department with 45 as compared to 31. The Panthers claimed a 4o% success rate from the field on shooting and 35% for three point attempts, once again outdoing Greensboro who had 35% and 30% in each category respectively.
