As the 2025 spring semester begins, students return to campus with new ambitions and reflections on winter break.

Sophomore Myles Chambers expressed his thoughts for the months ahead.

“What I’m looking forward to most this semester is finishing off strong and reaching my goals,” he shared. “I’m also excited about the events coming up.”

Chambers also reflected on his winter break.

“I spent my break with family and friends, enjoying time together. We went bowling and threw a couple of parties.”

Sophomore Eliza Copes reflected on her break and what she is looking forward to this semester.

“I spent my winter break working and focusing on self care,” she said. “I’m really excited about my anatomy and physiology classes. I can’t wait to learn more about pre-veterinary medicine.”

Junior Hunter Hooper is looking forward to both reconnecting with friends and enjoying new spots.

“I think I’m most excited to see all my friends again,” he said. “Having Jose’s right down the road is going to be great for all the major sports events coming up this year.”

Hooper also shared highlights from his winter break travels.

“I didn’t have too much going on,” he said. “I worked and took online classes, but I did spend a couple of days driving through West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. Seeing major cities like New York City and Philadelphia was amazing.”

His adventurous break traveling around the country reflects the ways students recharge before a new term.

Junior Deontae Lawson shared his goals for the track season.

“I’m looking forward to competing in conference play,” he said.

He also said his winter break was dedicated to improvement.

“I spent my break training hard to make myself better,” he said.

Lawson also shared a new year’s resolution.

“My goal is to start being a better person,” he said.

His dedication to personal improvement and athletic excellence illustrates the mindset of many student athletes striving for success.

As returning and new students settle in, the campus is buzzing with conversations about classes and upcoming events.

Whether it’s focusing on academics, athletics, or personal goals, the spring semester offers a fresh start and new opportunities.
