Allyson Cassell, junior, lead the Panthers on their victory path against the EMU Royals on Saturday afternoon scoring 18 points, stealing the ball three times, and claiming eight rebounds. The final score for the game was a 62-49 Panther victory.

The Panthers held a 15-5 lead before the end of the first quarter and proceeded to stay ahead of the Royals in points for the entire game without faltering. Cassell led the team in points with Taryn Blankenship, junior, also scoring double digits with 10.

Halftime saw the Panthers with 30 points, a total they then doubled by the end of regulation play. Aisha Martin,grad student, and Maslyn Mosbacher, first year, both cashed in nine points against the Royals, and a final lay up from Zy’breayziah Alexander, sophomore, allowed the Panthers to break the 60-point mark.

Ferrum did more than just score in this game as well, having seven steals and seven blocked shots on the defensive front. The ladies also had 48 total rebounds that led to 10, second-chance points being scored.

The Panthers were at 38% on shooting with a 37% accuracy rating at three-point range. The free throw line saw an 82% success rate from the Panthers with only two shots not finding their mark.

This game takes the team to a 10-6 overall record and 4-3 in conference play as they prepare for nine more ODAC competitions.

The team, led by Head Coach Bryan Harvey, will face Hollins University at the Swartz Gym to begin a basketball double header this evening at 5 p.m.
