After a 2-4 start to their season, the Panther’s Baseball team rattled off 7 straight wins, including an ODAC bout, which featured a 12-1 blowout of Hampden Sydney.

This win streak began with a clean sweep of a three-game series with Ohio Wesleyan on the first weekend in March, highlighted by fifth-year Carlos Castillo’s total 4 runs and 1 RBI throughout the series.

The Panthers continued rolling through Hampden Sydney, posting an 11- run, fifth-inning, spearheaded by senior Shawn Baxter’s 2 RBI’s. They then cruised to the finish, making the win streak elevate yet again to four games.

Following the sweep, Ferrum came back on campus for a double header against Wilson College. The first game was a 10-0 shutout, all of which came at the bottom of the first inning.

After the conclusion of the first game,  the nightcap began in almost identical fashion, with the Panthers picking up eight runs in the first inning alone. They then added on three runs in the third inning and another four in the bottom of the frame to secure the 16-2 victory.

The streak ended with a double header against Eastern Mennonite in which they took the first game with the final score being 10-6, pushing their win streak to 7. The Panthers then fell to the Royals 15-5 to end their week-long win streak.

The Panther Baseball team will be back in action on Tues. March 11 at home against Hampden Sydney once again.
