Panther Baseball Stays Positive Through Week 4

The Panther’s Baseball team has put together a 12-8 record through the midpoint of its season, with three wins coming against ODAC competition.

After defeating Hampden Sydney College, the two teams faced off again on Mar. 11 with Ferrum falling 14-11. Notable scorers include Sophomore Tyler Mason with 3 runs and 1 RBI.

Once again hitting the road, the Panther’s faced off against Mary Baldwin and took home a decisive 24-5 victory with Ferrum going on a 21-0 run after giving up an early 3-1 lead.

They then went on to compete in a doubleheader against Bridgewater College where they would pick up the first game 2-1, before eventually falling to the Eagles 17-8.

The Panthers came back to the mountain for a home game against Southern Virginia University, delivering a 7-6 win thanks to a single RBI delivered by Freshman JJ Tyree at the bottom of the 9th inning.

Their most recent game featured a 7-6 loss to Roanoke College. The Panther’s rallied to come back from an early 3-2 lead, making the game 5-6 after 7 innings.

At the top of the 8th, Ferrum would pick up a run to make the game tied at 6-6. The Maroons answered back at the bottom of the 10th, stealing the game with a 7-6 victory.

The Panther’s Baseball team will be back on the field in a doubleheader at Randolph-Macon College, on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
