Baseball dropped three games over the last week, pushing its record to a still positive 12-11.

The Panthers began the week facing Randolph Macon in a double header. The first game began with senior Seth Shannon slamming a home run to bring in two runs for the Panthers.

The Yellow Jackets came back at the bottom of the inning, bringing the score to 4-2 in favor of Randolph Macon. Going into the 5th, Macon led 11-3 before a home run by sophomore JJ Mulhern brought the game to 6-11.

After seven innings, the score was 15-9 Yellow Jackets, but the Panthers made a final rally in an attempt to get back in the game, scoring three at the top of the 8th thanks to a sacrifice fly from freshman Eli Eliott.

Macon answered back yet again, posting a final three runs to end the first game with a final score of 18-11. The second game began with the Panthers dropping five runs in the bottom of the first, giving Macon the early lead.

The game continued with Ferrum slowly cutting away at the lead, eventually bringing it within two after five innings. The Yellow Jackets responded with five runs over the next two innings to Ferrum’s two.

The Panthers attempted to bring it back late, scoring three runs in the final inning, pushing the final score to 14-10 Macon.

Their most recent game featured a conference matchup against Guilford College. The game began with graduate Carlos Castillo hitting a single, before stealing second and eventually being batted in from a Shannon double to put the Panther’s first run on the board.

Ferrum carried a 2-0 lead through three innings, until both teams scored a singular run in the 4th to bring the score to 3-1. Guilford kept its momentum rolling, scoring four runs over the next two innings to take the lead.

After a scoreless 7th and 8th inning, the Panthers posted two runs and the Quakers posted three to make the final score 8-5 Guilford.

The Panther’s baseball team will be back in action this Saturday in a double header at home against Virginia Wesleyan University at 2:00 and 4:30 p.m.
