On Mar. 20, the Blue Ridge Mountain Room was packed with students for Bingo Night.
The stakes were high as students sparked conversations about the prizes before the night had started.
Sophomore Myles Chambers spoke about what prize he wanted that night.
“It’s not what I want this time, I need the beats–for real.”
The prize lineup included an Easter basket, snack basket, Peep plush, cleaning basket, a Valentines basket, Beats earphones, a Backbone Playstation accessory, a Dirt Devil smart robot vacuum, and a 50-inch TV.
As Sophomore Kyle Holcomb called for bingo, he was so excited to win.
“Heck Yeah!” he said.
Holcomb, who won the Backbone Playstation accessory shared his thoughts after the victory.
“I don’t have a Playstation, but I tried it out, and it’s cool,” he said. “But I might have to sell it so I can get money off it.”
Some students showed up with no expectations or without much excitement but found themselves wanting a prize.
“I wasn’t looking forward to the prizes tonight,” said Jasmyn Layton, sophomore, “But I lowkey want that Peep Plush.”
One of the highlights of the night came during the battle for the snack basket.
Junior Aukiem Mitchell and sophomore Jaylon Hillman called “BINGO” at the same time, triggering a tiebreaker.
The two students had to play a game where they raced against the clock to fill a cup with cotton balls. Mitchell came out on top and claimed the snack basket.
“I tried my best in the contest,” Hillman said after the game, “But aye, next time I do something like this, I’m going to give it my all.”
For others, the night was a warm-up for another Bingo game in the future.
Sophomore Dominique Sandidge is already looking ahead to the next Bingo game which is Mega Bingo.
“I’m really looking forward to Mega Bingo,” he said. “I want a winning chance with the big dogs.”
Mega Bingo is set for April 10 at 9:00 p.m. in the Blue Ridge Mountain Room as a part of Spring Fling 2025.
