Within the winding roads of Rocky Mount lies the Franklin County Animal Shelter, an animal adoption center that performs neutering of animals for free and is looking to bring families together through the love of a pet.

The President of the Friends of Franklin County Animal Shelter, Stephanie Wright, spoke on behalf of the shelter and detailed its goals and driving forces.

“Our goal is to find a forever home for all of the animals in the shelter,” Wright proclaimed. “We take in everything from the county; we are not really allowed to turn any animals away.”

The nonprofit organization uses the funding it receives to pay for the spaying and neutering of Franklin County animals, which is what allows them to provide this service free of charge.

“The dogs are cool, and the people genuinely want to help the dogs,” first-year Robert Robertson III, who volunteers at the shelter regularly explained. “They don’t just talk a big talk like a lot of people, they show the care through their actions.”

An animal adoption event is taking place tomorrow at Starbucks from 10-1 p.m. set up by the Friends of Franklin County Animal Shelter. The address for the event is 591 Old Franklin Tpke. Rocky Mount, VA.

Any further questions about the shelter and services provided may be directed to [email protected].
