Women’s Lacrosse Final Push Secures Postseason Spot

Panthers LAX finished the 2024-25 season with a secured spot in the ODAC tournament for the first time since 2021.

They ended the regular season going 3-1 in the last four games.

In their matchup against Greensboro, the Panthers led 7-0 after the first quarter, with junior Ashtyn Bishop, scoring her game-high six goals in the opening quarter.

The Panthers built a 13-2 lead by halftime and ended up shutting Greensboro out in the second half.

Ferrum outshot Greensboro 41-9 and won 19 of 28 draw controls.

The Panthers shutout Greensboro in the second half as the final score is 22-2.

Sophomore Micaiyah Dickerson had four goals and an assist, while sophomore Caroline Moore and Freshman Caroline Kelley each scored 3 goals a piece. Freshman Lana Barkovic and sophomore Faith Feazell both added two goals and an assist.

Greensboro managed just 2 goals, one each from Regan Dailey and Sydney Patton.

The win improved the Panthers record to 4-7, while Greensboro dropped to 4-9.

Saturday, the Panthers headed to Danville for a matchup versus Averett.

The Panthers trailed by 1 after the first quarter, but Averett pulled ahead as they outscored the Panther 6-2 by halftime. Despite a second half push from the Panthers, Averett managed to control the game, as they won 14-10.

Barkovic led the team with 4 goals, and senior Makaila Veney had a two-way performance with 3 goals and caused 5 turnovers.

Dickerson had 2 goals and an assist.

First-Year Cayden West kept the Panthers in the game with 15 saves.

With the loss, the Panthers dropped to 5-8 and 2-6 in conference play, while Averett moved to 4-4.

The Panthers defeated Guilford 17-16 in a tight game as Ferrum went on a 4-1 run in the 4th quarter.

Barkovic and Bishop lead the Panthers led the team with 5 goals each.

The game was tied 5-5 after the first quarter, but Guilford went on a 7-0 run in the 2nd quarter to take a 12-7 lead.

The Panthers came back and in the final minute Veney won a draw control, which was her 9th of the game, and allowed the Panthers to run the clock.

In the last game of the regular season, the Panthers blew out Randolph 21-1.

Barkovic lead the team with 5 goals, while Bishop scored 4 goals and 3 assists.

The Panthers season ended with a 20-1 loss to Lynchburg in the opening round of the ODAC tournament on April 19.

Fifth seeded Lynchburg quickly controlled the game by scoring 4 goals in the opening minutes.

Barkovic put the Panthers on the board scoring an unassisted goal at the 11 minute mark of the first quarter.

Barkovic’s goal was the only point the Panthers scored in the afternoon.

Lynchburg responded with five more goals before the end of the first quarter and extended their lead by adding five more in the second quarter, as the Hornets had a 14-1 advantage at halftime.

West finished the game with eight saves.

The Panthers appearance in the conference tournament marked a milestone for the program under first year coach Carly Coyle as the team finished the season 7-9 overall and 4-6 in conference play.
