Men’s Golf Opens Season in Harrisonburg

Ferrum College’s men’s golf team opened the fall portion of its 2022-23 schedule at the Kinder-Williams Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday, September 19-20, at Lakeview Golf Club. Bridgewater College served as host.
Southern Virginia University took home the team title after shooting a two-day 594 to finish three stroke in front of University of Lynchburg. (597). McDaniel University (598), Roanoke College (599) and Bridgewater-B (604) rounded out the top five teams. Ferrum (638) placed 12th in a field of 15 teams.
Shenandoah University’s Connor Christie earned medalist, carding a 72-69-141, to finish a stroke ahead of SVU’s Brogan Bennett (142) and McDaniel’s Ryan McGarry (142).Brett Pennington was Ferrum’s top finisher, carding a 78-78-156 to finish tied for 33rd place in a field of 81 competitors.

Ferrum’s top five players for the tournament were Brett Pennington 78-78-156, T33rd; Chase Sells 76-81-157, T35th; Brandon Gold 81-78-159, 41st; Zachery Walsh 870-79-166, T59th; Brandon Jones 87-81-168, T66th.

Coach Tanner Brooks’ team will return to the links Monday and Tuesday, September 26-27, at the Jack Ingram Invitational. The event will be hosted by Pfeiffer University at Tillery Tradition Country Club in Albermarle, North Carolina.
