Hamm Places Second, Men Place 8th at ODAC Indoor Championships

Men’s track team finished in 8th place at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Indoor Championships, hosted at Roanoke College’s Cregger Center Feb,. 27. The University of Lynchburg won both the men’s and women’s team titles.

The highlight of day two for the Panthers was  Michael Hamm, sophomore, who grabbed 2nd in the 400m dash with a time of 50.19, earning him an All-ODAC award. In the 200m dash, Hamm finished 4th, while Isaiah Clark, sophomore, finished 5th in the 60m race with a time of 6.94, and Deontae Lawson, freshman, qualified for the triple jump final with a 13.16m jump.

Head Coach Mark White said that overall, he was pleased with the performances.

“I was happy with our weekend. We had quite a few lifetime PRs and season-best performances. That’s all you can ask for at the conference championship. I had an opposing coach tell me that he was impressed with how hard our kids compete. That means a lot!” White said.

Coach White’s men will be back in action Mar 18. for the beginning of Outdoor Track & Field season at the Virginia Wesleyan Spring Break Invitational, in Virginia Beach, VA.
