The Panthers women’s track team finished 10th last weekend at the ODAC indoor track and field championships, hosted at Roanoke College’s Cregger Center. Both the men’s and women’s winning titles were taken home by the University of Lynchburg.

Genesis Pineiro, senior, achieved an indoor personal record in the 800-meter race with a time of  2:31:51. She then proceeded to assist her 4×400-meter relay team to a 10th-place finish.

The 4×400 meter relay for the Panthers was compiled of Jordan Hairston, senior; Pineiro; Arriona Holiz, freshman; and Lacy Flannagan, junior. The Distance medley featured four panthers Pineiro, Hairston, Flannagan, and Holiz, and finished with a time of 15:06.07 in 8th place. Ariana Beverly, sophomore, competed in the long jump with a distance of 4.01m.

“I was happy with our weekend. We had quite a few lifetime PR’s and season best performances. That’s all you can ask for at the conference championship. I had an opposing coach tell me that he was impressed with how hard our kids compete. That means a lot!” said Mark White, Head Coach.

The team will be back on track Sat., March 18 for the start of its Outdoor Track & Field season in Virginia Beach at the Virginia Wesleyan Spring Break Invitational.
