Bryant Wall scored 21 last Wednesday as Men’s Basketball fell short in a 67-55 loss against Guilford College.

The Panthers took the lead at the beginning of the game, as Calvin Washington, senior, scored the first two points of the night.

However, the first half soon became a see-saw battle as both teams alternated the leading position.

By half-time, the Panthers found themselves down by a score of 23-31.

Nonetheless, Ferrum wasn’t finished. Concluding half-time with a team huddle and a series of substitutions, the team returned in an effort to secure a victory.

As Jikari Johnson, junior, earned the team two points soon after, the fans were hopeful for the fate of the Panthers.

Ferrum struggled to maintain a lead, as the see-saw only continued. It was as if for every point scored by the Panthers, Guilford scored two more.

With only eight minutes remaining in the game, Ferrum gave it their all. The scoreboard read 47-50, Guilford, with the Panthers closing the gap between the teams.

The Panthers fell short as the game came to an end Wednesday night, concluding the night with delayed defeat at the score of 55-67.

Wall’s 21 points became the highlight of the night, with Johnson in an ancillary position, acquiring 10 points throughout the game.

Sterling Charles, sophomore, also contributed eight points to Ferrum’s score, as well as Washington, who added seven points to the scoreboard, and Tahli Oden, senior, with six. Also chipping into the effort, Zavier Measmer, junior, earned the final three points of the 55-point-score that the Panthers brought home.

Ferrum Men’s Basketball will face their next opponent, Randolph tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Swartz Gym.
