Tennis continues to fall as the season continues following Spring Break.

The post-break matches began March 10 on the home court, with a loss against Olivet.

The women’s team lost 1-8, and the Men 3-6.

Nonetheless, Emily Walker, junior, dominated on the court, winning her own singles match and catching the eyes of the crowd.

While perhaps a win has yet to come, Rod Baker, coach, asserted the skill viewed on the court.

“The season has started off rough,” Baker explained, “but I’ve seen some great play.”

On March 13, Tripoom Jala, junior, beat Roanoke College’s number one singles player Zack Kriebel.

The Panthers lost the overall match but fought hard, with a 1-8 loss for the men, and 0-9 loss for the women.

According to Baker, the week was unfortunate but not enough to hold back the team.

On March 16, Jala and Gabriel Alavarez held their own, barely falling short of a win in their doubles match.

Similarly, Austin Briggman, freshman, defeated his opponent in singles.

However, the game ended in another loss against Randolph-Macon, with a 1-8 score for the men’s team.

Men’s Tennis will progress their season on March 27 against Bridgewater, and the lady Panthers will continue on March 29 facing Shenandoah.
