Two organizations. One event.
Coffeehouse returns to the Panther’s Den again in September.
Set to take the stage on Thurs., Sept. 5, from 8-10 p.m., the coffeehouse opens the opportunity to both present and admire original literature and arts across campus.
Coffeehouse is organized in conjunction with the Chrysalis Magazine and the Iron Blade Newspaper on campus.
Iron Blade editor Kyle Markowitz, senior, anticipates greatness from the unification of organizations and the campus for the event.
“The Iron Blade is excited to work with the Chrysalis magazine to bring together students to perform their literary talents,” Markowitz says.
Scout Lynch, junior, who is the emcee of the event, encourages all to attend. The goal is fun–for everyone.
“People can come up, they can sing a song, they can read a poem, they can read some prose, and they can read a story,” explains Lynch with excitement. “Whatever they want, anything fun like that!”
And, according to English Professor Katherine Grimes, Lynch is an additional highlight to the event.
“Scout Lynch returns as coffee house host and entertainment extraordinaire,” Grimes remarks, “Scout hopes to be joined by other poets, short story writers, and musicians for a night of fun.”
Lynch is more than ecstatic as the first coffeehouse of the fall semester is soon approaching.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Lynch expresses, “and there’s refreshments, too.”
The fun is not only for the performers, either. Coffeehouse is an opportunity for people to admire the works of those around them on campus.
For Grimes, she attends to support.
“I plan to be there to cheer everyone on!” she exclaims.
Lynch hopes that she will not be the only one.
“We really hope it’ll be a good turnout,” she offers. “We are also going to have a Halloween one coming up–the Night of Terrors.”
