Ferrum College sprung into the new semester with new faces all around campus, as more than 50 new students have been admitted since winter break.
This is the largest acclimation of new students for a spring semester in the college’s history.
“This milestone reflects our commitment to providing a transformative educational experience” President Mirta Martin stated. “(The students) highlight the growing interest in our unique programs and student-centered approach.”
Martin was proud to announce the sudden surge in enrollment, as she believes these students all contain the qualities of being a true Panther, including their energy, talent, and curiosity.
Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing Bill Sliwa gave a special thanks to the entire enrollment department, crediting their dedication for the recent surge in appliances.
“Their hard work and dedication have given us many new Panthers to love,” Sliwa confided.
Hard work and dedication is no stranger to first year Ashlee Cundiff, who soon after arriving on campus for her first semester this spring helped the Panther Cheer Squad secure a #14 finish at UCA Nationals.
“So far it’s been a great experience,” Cundiff shared. “It’s like gaining a new family through my cheer team, and building relationships with my teachers makes the work more enjoyable.”
Cundiff transferred from Longwood University, with a population size of 4,544 students. Since the transfer, the Panther claims she can not get enough of the more tightly knit community here.
“The professors and faculty have been very helpful and supportive,” Cundiff added. “I’m loving the small campus and being able to know I have people supporting me.”
