Senior Rayshawn Dixon made history in the Pete Wilson Invitational, as the Panthers split in conference, falling to Averett before bouncing back against Southern Virginia.

At the Pete Wilson Invitational which was held on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, Dixon recorded three major decisions and a pin before securing a 13-6 victory in the finals.

In doing so, he broke the record for most titles, which was held by current Panther Head Coach Logan Meister, who won two PWI titles in 2016 and 2017. Ferrum finished 16th out of 30 teams, with performances from first-year Cameron Curva (149 lbs), who secured two wins and Senior Trent Proctor (133 lbs), who won a major decision.

Returning to conference action, Ferrum faced Averett on Feb. 6, falling 23-14. Senior Zach Beckner (125 lbs) started strong with a shutout win over Mason Barrett. Proctor and Curva also picked up wins, giving Ferrum a 9-3 lead before Averett took control with five straight victories. Dixon ended the night on a high note, delivering an 18-0 tech fall in the first period.

On Feb. 8, the Panthers bounced back on Senior Night defeating Southern Virginia 45-6. Beckner opened with a tech fall, followed by pins from Proctor and First year Josiah Canales (141 lbs). Curva and Junior Joseph Olalde (157 lbs) performed with quick tech falls, while Dixon closed out the night with his 23rd win of the season with a 16-1 tech fall.

Coach Meister and the Panthers are preparing for the ODAC Championships on Feb. 15 at Washington and Lee University.
