Pre-Season Poll Puts ‘Black Hats’ at No. 5 in ODAC

T’mahdae Penn was a standout receiver for the Panthers last season, hauling in 35 receptions for 740 yards and 10 touchdowns in eight games.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) has announced its football preseason poll, and Ferrum College has been picked to finish fifth this year.

Randolph-Macon College has been picked to win the regular season title, with a total of 48 points and six first place votes. Defending ODAC champs, Washington and Lee University are slated to finish second this year, with 43 points and two first place votes. Hampden-Sydney College received 36 points for a third place finish.

The Panthers are led by third year Head Coach Clieve Adams, who finished last season 6-4 (3-3 ODAC). Ferrum returns five starters on offense and six on defense and two All-Conference players, Daniel Lamb, (third team, 2021) and Deven Gray (third team, 2021).

The Panthers open up the season on the road Thurs., Sept. 1, against University of Virginia-Wise. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at Carl Smith Stadium. ODAC play begins Oct. 1, with a start time of 1 p.m. at Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA.
