The men’s wrestling team beat Shenandoah University 42-7 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Jan. 21 at James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center.

The Panther’s record was 4-8, 2-2 ODAC, by the end of the match, and Shenandoah’s 2-6, 0-4 ODAC.

Four bonus points were given to the team. Sam Slate (184 lbs) and Christian Hite (157) directed the way with pins, while Adrian Samano (125) posted a tech fall and Joey Olade (165) triumphed by major decision. Hayden Funck (149) received a decision, Ethan Fragoso (197) won by injury default, and the Panthers picked up a set of forfeit wins to top things off.

In the 165 lbs class, Panther Joey Olalde defeated Jalen Cornelius of Shenandoah 14-2/MD.

Dylan Weaver won the 174 lbs class against Panther Colt Oliver, 12-0/MD  Samuel Slate, and defeated Shenandoah’s Dylan Wiegert in a fall at 2:43 in the 184 class.

Panther Ethan Fragoso won the 197 lbs class against Troy Gibson, who was injured.

In the 285 lbs class, Panther Trent Ray won due to forfeit.

In the 125 lbs class, Panther Adrian Samano defeated Elliot Rivera, TF 16-0, 2:18.

Shenandoah’s Sean Rinebold won against Panther Trent Procter in the 133 lbs class.

Levi Englman, Panther, won by forfeit. In the 149 lbs class, Hayden Funck won for the Panthers against Cameron Hatchett.

Panther, Hite, won the 157 lbs class against Shenandoah’s Xavier Lock.
