Norton Outdoors Adventures is urging studetns to stop by the Quad tomorrow from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. for its Expo.
“Please come out and enjoy some hammocks, bike riding, foam sword fighting, and other activities,” NOA Director Aaron Conover said. “You can also sign up for your chance to win some outdoor equipment and find out more about what we are doing.”
Conover said fall is a great time to get out in the woods and on the trails.
“Being prepared is the key to a fun and safe time,” he said.
He added some tips:
- Hike with friend or group of friends
- Know your route
- Let someone know where you are going and when you plan on being back
- Notify them when you have returned
- Have water, snacks and clothing appropriate for the weather
- Use insect repellent. Ticks, chiggers, and other critters are very active right now
- Check for ticks when returning (light colored clothing helps with this)
- If you see something that concerns you while out on the Campus Trails, contact Campus Police at 540-365-4444
- Any emergencies Dial 911
