Sophomore Adrian Samano posted a tech fall at 125 pounds to remain unbeaten this season.

The Panthers dropped its first men’s wrestling dual meet of the season today at the Sam Case Classic to #24 McDaniel College, falling 35-13 at the Gill Center. Case was McDaniel’s head wrestling coach from 1965 through 1989.

Adrian Samano, sophomore, started things off for Ferrum with an 18-2 tech fall over Romeo Tsai at 125 pounds. Zach Beckner, junior, kept things rolling with a 15-10 decision over Alex DuFour at 133 pounds to put the Panthers on top 8-0.

The Green Terror roared back, winning the next seven weight classes from 141 to 197 pounds, including six bonus point wins. That streak included three pins, a pair of tech falls, and a major decision and gave McDaniel an insurmountable 35-8 lead.

The Panther’s Rayshawn Dixon, senior, closed out the match with a first-period tech fall over Zeke Gayle at 285 pounds, winning 17-1 at the 2:59 mark.  A number of exhibitions were held following the dual, with Ferrum’s Cody Agnell, freshman, pinning his opponent, Walker Bell, freshman, posting a tech fall and Samson St. Germain, freshman, winning by decision.
