Ferrum College Men’s Wrestling team competed on Jan 17. in Newport News at the Builder Invitational.
The Panthers racked up 158.5 points to claim the team title in the pack of 15 teams.
Two Ferrum Wrestlers won titles, sophomore Josiah Canales Maldonado (133) and sophomore Andre Cortes (157). Both wrestlers went 4-0.
In the finals, Canales Maldonado pinned Dylan Coward from Marymount in 3:54, and Cortes beat Christian Fojon from Highpoint University by a 16-10 decision.
First-year Isaac Dodd (141), Senior Noah Harris (197), and Senior Breaden Fluke (285) all scored second-place finishes.
Third place finishers were first-year Riley Conway (125), sophomore Cameron Curva (149), sophomore Robert Owens Jr (165), senior Hunter Thompson (174) and junior Joseph Toner (184).
Fourth-place finishes were turned in by first-year Hayden Thompson (149), sophomore Blake McCarty (157), while first-year Braden Crawford (141) finished 5th.
