Ferrum College continued its strong start to the 2026 women’s flag football season with three decisive victories, including a doubleheader sweep on March 14 and a shutout win on March 18.
Ferrum opened with a 73-6 rout of the University of Mount Olive, using a fast-paced offense and aggressive defense to take control early. Quarterback Payson Shreeve completed 27 of 35 passes for 345 yards and six touchdowns without an interception. Macy Taylor and Samantha Pitzer combined for 273 receiving yards and five touchdowns, helping the Panthers build a commanding lead before halftime.
Later that day, Ferrum edged No. 15 Barton College 37-33 in a tightly contested matchup. The Panthers rallied from an early deficit behind Shreeve, who threw for 439 yards and five touchdowns in one of the team’s most explosive passing performances of the season. Taylor finished with 14 receptions for 163 yards, while Pitzer added two touchdown catches. Ferrum sealed the win with a late scoring drive in the final minute, aided by key defensive plays, including multiple interceptions and a defensive touchdown that shifted momentum.
Ferrum maintained its momentum on March 18 with a 75-0 victory over Hollins University. The Panthers’ defense dominated from the opening possession, recording seven interceptions and limiting Hollins to just 33 total yards of offense. Shreeve passed for 198 yards and four touchdowns, while several players contributed scoring plays, highlighting Ferrum’s depth on both sides of the ball. Pitzer added a pick-six as Ferrum built a 44-0 halftime lead and cruised through the second half.
Across the three games, Ferrum combined efficient offense with a disruptive defense, outscoring opponents 185-39. The Panthers have consistently controlled the tempo, capitalized on turnovers, and showcased balance across their roster. With strong quarterback play, reliable receiving options, and a defense that continues to create opportunities, Ferrum has positioned itself as an early-season contender as the schedule progresses.
