Ferrum Farmers Market is opening its gates back up to the public April 18 for the Opening Day Celebration. This market has farm fresh fruits and vegetables, crafts and other wares from local vendors in the Ferrum region but also Rocky Mount.

“Our vendors carry a range of products–from seasonal locally grown produce, flowers arrangements, and plants–along with multiple bakers who offer a huge assortment of baked goods from bread, cookies, cakes, sour dough, to candy, and more,” says Rebecca Saunders, organizer.

They will also feature meats and other special items as well.

“We have farms that bring local, pasture-grown chicken, pork, beef, eggs and honey,” says Saunders.

Not only will they be having farm-fresh produce and meats they will be having a variety of handmade crafts and knitted items.

“We also have a large selection of vendors who make handmade crafts ranging from wood and metal decor, crochet and knitted items, custom clothing, jewelry, soap, art, and so much more,” Saunders says.

Since its inception, the Market has continued to grow.

“(It) has doubled in size from last year, and there’s not a lot of overlap in what the vendors carry, so the selection available is pretty amazing,” Saunders says.

The vendor list is on the website: https://www.ferrumforward.com/farmers-market .

Saunders mentions that they have been showcasing this year’s vendors each day on our Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ferrumfarmandcraft .

This Celebration will also include bouncy houses, carnival games with prizes, and more. It’s being billed as a family event.

They will also be offering pulled pork BBQ or smoked turkey with a side of potato salad dinners as a fundraiser for “Friends of Ferrum Park”, for the Ferrum Park Project–which the Franklin County Board of Supervisors recently approved.

The Markets will run every Thursday from 3-7 p.m. until the last market of the year on Nov. 7.

The location is 10884 Franklin St. Ferrum–just across from the Ferrum Green Box Compactor and Recycling site.

Saunders encourages everyone to come out and enjoy farm-fresh produce, products, and crafts.
