Women’s basketball took no winter break after the Fall 2025 semester as they are powering through the season and stand at 6-10.
Entering spring 2026, the first week back on campus has brought more than the return of classes to the women’s team, but also two games, gaining one win and one loss for the Panthers.
On Jan. 10, the Lady Panthers took on Emmanual University in Franklin Springs, Ga., winning with the score of 76-67.
First-year Breeyana Kimmons led the way, scoring 23 points for the team, five of which were three-pointers. Sophomore Masyln Mosbacher scored 14 throughout the game, giving the Panthers a 35-26 lead at halftime and later a Conference Carolina win.
On Jan. 13, the women’s team was back in action in Belmont, NC, as they played against Belmont Abbey College. Though the Panthers fell in a final score 38-67, they didn’t go down without a fight.
First-year Sophia Ponce scored nine points for the team, heightening her stats for the first season. First-years Aleksandra Kubiak and Kimmons took the second and third top scorers of the game, leveling the playing field after a 17-36 first quarter.
Senior Allyson Cassell gave it her all in the final quarter, going out with a three-pointer. However, it was not enough to secure a win for the Panthers.
The women’s basketball team will be back in action on Jan. 17 in Swartz Gymnasium against Virgina Wesleyan University.
